Lupus Foundation of Southern California Hosting Informational and Q&A Event for Patients and Supporters

San Diego, CA – April 25, 2020

 

The Lupus Foundation of Southern California (LFSC) is a patient-oriented, nonprofit group made up primarily of volunteers. On Saturday, April 25 from 9:30 – 12:00 (noon) p.m. in the United Way Building at 4699 Murphy Canyon Rd. in San Diego 92123, the LFSC is hosting a free doctors panel discussion where patients and their supporters can ask questions of an exceptional group of lupus experts, including a rheumatologist, dermatologist, OB-GYN, nephrologist, cardiologist and pharmacist. Refreshments will be served for attendees.

“This panel discussion will be an excellent opportunity for patients, family, and friends to learn more about lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, from this outstanding group of medical experts,” said Dr. Mitsuo Tomita, M.D., Panel Moderator.

 

The Panelists:

Dr. Arthur Mabaquiao, Triwest Research, Rheumatologist.
Dr. Mabaquiao graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, completed his Internal Medicine residency in 1998 at the University of California, Irvine, and Rheumatology Fellowship at UCI in 2000. He has been in his private practice in San Diego since 2005. Dr. Tara Paravar, M.D. is an Associate Professor in Dermatology, UCSD School of Medicine.
Dr. Paravar completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Texas at Houston/MD Anderson Cancer Center, received her medical degree from UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Maryam Tarsa, M.D. UCSD, Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences Perinatologist.
Dr. Tarsa received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Tarsa’s expertise includes fetal imaging and treating pregnant women with autoimmune disorders, infectious diseases, and transplants. She also cares for women having twins or higher-order multiples. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American Medical Association. Dr. Alex Kay, M.D., nephrologists Kaiser Permanente
Dr. Kay received his medical degree from Oxford University School of Medicine Oxford. He is Board-certified Nephrology, American Board of Internal Medicine and Internal Medicine American Board of Internal Medicine. My practice is for nephrology (the diagnosis and treatment of kidney problems). Dr. David R. Ostrander, M.D. Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, Cardiologist
Dr. Ostrander is a cardiologist in San Diego, California with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group. He received his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.
